Most bought and sold shares

Here we present trading data from DNB’s equity trading service every month.

Norwegian aircraft logo

Norwegian Air Shuttle was one of the most bought shares in September.

Belief in lower oil prices drove much of the trading

Shares closely tied to developments in the oil market dominated the top lists for stock trading in September – both buying and selling. This trading pattern aligns with DNB Carnegie’s negative outlook on future oil prices.

Norwegian and Frontline are the shares that were bought most in September. Lower oil prices mean lower fuel costs, which lead the airline to a tailwind, while for Frontline, increased oil production and high demand for oil products are important drivers for future earnings. On the other hand, Aker BP and Vår Energi are the most net sold stocks, right after DNB, which may also indicate profit-taking.

The numbers in the top lists

All numbers are based on trading activity performed in the last month via both DNB’s equity trading service online and in the Spare app. The top lists are sorted either based on the number of transactions (buy and sell), net volume (the total amount bought minus the total amount sold), or gross volume (the total amount bought and sold).
